Travel Trade Fun Day

Cathy Burke

We are all looking forward to the 1st September and the Travel Trade Fun Day in Dublin. Everyone enjoyed it so much last year that we've nearly doubled our Travel Counsellor family numbers attending the 1st September 2013 event. So far we have 22 adults and 15 children booked in.

This day is a fabulous opportunity for people to share the fun side of the travel industry with their families and for colleagues or peers in travel to meet each other's families too.

Of course we are a pretty competitive bunch so already there are TC Kids the length and breadth of the country practising their three legged race and I don't think there are any eggs or spoons left in most Travel Counsellors' homes! There's fierce competition over who gets onto the 5-a-side team, as being in the semi-finals last year has only spurred everyone on to get to the final this year - so watch out!

Travel Counsellors will be travelling from all parts of the country to enjoy the family get together including Cork, Limerick, Louth, Kildare, Wicklow, Dublin and more and Bernie, Ciara and I will be there from our head office too. Some will be catching up with friends that they've made on educationals throughout the year.

I really want to commend the organisers, sponsors (of which we are one) and the volunteers for all the hard work and preparation that is involved in organising this event; I can't recall ever being to a Travel Trade fun event that didn't involve alcohol at some point. This family day is all the more special because it is supporting some great charities.

It's going to be a great day, let's hope the weather is as good as last year. I'm proud to be part of this industry!
